A nose that no longer inhales, yet smells familiar scents of
loved ones.
Thin skin so worn, its delicate surface is marred by dozens
of scrapes and bruises. Your fingers still bend around mine.
Open and gasping for living breath, your voice utters words
with the same soft tone.
The superficial holds no importance, only what is inside.
And what lies inside is a wealth of wonderful decades, years, days, hours, and
minutes. I hug you and wish I could travel inside with you. Then, I close my
eyes, and I have the magic to see within. And the powers to never forget what I
saw.
