Magical Monday: Is this Cinderella’s glass slipper or just a curious decoy?

While away helping my mother with her health issues, I stumbled upon another magical item I wanted to share. There are strange and interesting things to be found in assisted living facilities…if you have a keen imagination!

This appears to be Cinderella’s glass slipper. However, special authority told me strictly it is not hers, that it is magical, but no more.

What is the purpose of this shoe? Who is to wear it?

I think it’s an unusual decoy, to lure lasses with intentions and wishes of living lives of princesses. It appears to be carved of ice. When a maiden slips her foot into the slipper, the shoe will act as a magical sorting device, culling out those unfit for honor and responsibility. Those ill-suited will suffer consequences of chilled toes, the true reprobates affected to the degree of severe frostbite. Those young ladies who qualify will absorb a measure of good fortune charm when the radiant warmth of their skin melts a thin layer of the ice.

What do you think? Let your creativity flow…

This is an award for those who Step In the Right Directrion - you know, like an Academy Award and a Pultizer Prize rolled into one. It is given to those who have big feet, and do their best to find shoes that fit, but cannot manage the "feet feat". They wear it and hey presto, the pair of shoes of their dreams materialises in a box beside them. But to qualify they mist have done 1000 hours of voluntariat. Each 1000 hours = 1 pair of shoes. Well, a woman can dream, can't she?

This ice slipper belongs to the Ice Queen who ventured into Springtime when she followed the haunting melody of Pan's flute. She lost the slipper when she left the path of flowers and tripped in the blackberry brambles. Now with one foot in her own wintery realm and her bare foot in Springtime, the Ice Queen is trapped between both worlds. She is compelled to sleep in limbo until a worthy man discovers the this magical slipper that never melts and releases it from the thorny grip.

These ideas are great!

Tanja, what a fun way to get new shoes. I'm up for that.

Wendy, I love your tale about the Ice Queen, trapped between the seasons now that she has lost one of her wintery slippers. That has lots of possibilites for a great story!

For the person who possesses this glass slipper, the hard boundaries of the "real" world soften and the owner steps into a magical realm. It is not difficult -- just a step away. This realm is amazing as the one revealed by platform 9 3/4 in Harry Potter.

A device used as a personal portal, also in the line of flue powder from Harry Potter. Great idea, Lindsay!

This is a magic shoe all right. It was left for Cinderella's step sisters, however. Knowing how their covetous, little minds worked, the fairy godmother left it to tempt and teach them. Of course they just had to try it on, assuming that they would get a handsome prince as well. Ha!
The moment the older sister's foot went in, it stayed on until she learned to be kind. So, yeah, she died with it on, spent her whole life clumping around, complaining and scaring little children. The younger sister threw it away, but it kept reappearing on the floor in front of her. She died of a shoe related phobia.
So if this shoe appears on the floor in front of you, don't put it on! And then carefully consider the real price of any little fetishes you might have. Bow before the shoe, admiting any little sins you might be guilty of and apologize. The shoe will slowly still, until it leaves to catch its next victim.
Yours very sincerely, former shoe-aholic.

Carlajo this is wonderful!Especially how the magic shoe must be treated with care to get it to stop threatening. That is a very powerful shoe indeed! Thanks much.
