I'm especially pleased to have a fellow Floridian author, LM Pruitt, here today to share her inspiration for writing her new PNR/ Urban Fantasy release, Bone Moon Rising.
Light in the Dark
When I first started writing the Moon Rising
series, I had no idea it would grow in to the story it has and still is
becoming. At first it was a simple writing exercise, something to get my
creative juices going again. Then it became a way to try and show some of the
small town life and culture of the area I’ve spent my entire life in. And
finally, it became a way to exorcise and deal with some of my own demons and
issues.
So this series ended up having a lot more going
for it than I originally planned.
The awesome thing about that is how much further
I’ve gotten to explore this world I created before I even knew I needed it. The
not awesome part is how dark things have gotten and how much further the
characters still have to go before they’re back in the light.
There can’t be good things without bad. It’s not
possible, not even—or maybe especially even—in a world filled with supernatural
creatures and happenings. At the same time, the reverse is true as well.
Eventually, no matter how bad things are, good things will happen. That’s what
I like to remember when I’m doing horrible things to characters I’ve come to
know and love.
For the characters in the Moon Rising series,
those good times are coming. They—and me and the readers—just need to hold on a
little longer to get there. But there is a spark of light in the darkness.
And it’s about to flame to life.

About
the Author:
L.M. Pruitt has been reading and writing for as long
as she can remember. A native of Florida with a love of New Orleans, she has
the uncanny ability to find humor in most things and would probably kill a
plastic plant. She knows this because she's killed bamboo. Twice. She is the author of the Winged series, the
Plaisir Coupable series, Jude Magdalyn series, the Moon Rising series, and
Taken: A Frankie Post Novel.
