Interviewing author Rosalie Lario about two new releases in her Demons of Infernum series

Today, I'm very pleased to be talking with author Rosalie Lario about two of her recent paranormal romances in the Demons of Infernum series: Touch of the Angel, available now, and Heart of the Incubus, coming next month.

Touch of the Angel, book three of your Demons of Infernum series, involves dangerous and intriguing interactions between an interdimensional bounty hunter, an incubus, and several succubi. Compared to books one and two, are these new types of demons/supernaturals? I think every new book in the series builds on the types of supernaturals you see, but when I first established the world, I made sure to keep it very broad. In other words, don’t be surprised by what might show up in one of my stories!

In Touch of the Angel, the succubi are forced to harvest special abilities from the Otherworlders. Does that preyed upon group represent humans? The villain in the story has, with the aid of a powerful dark fae, discovered a way to drain and repurpose special powers, whether it be from Otherworlders (which are beings from a multitude of other dimensions who get to Earth via travel by an interdimensional portal), or humans, who can have special powers in the form of magic.

Do any of the characters continue through more than one book of the series? Since the main characters of my stories are all brothers, you’ll get the reappearance of each brother (and their love interests) in every story. Truthfully, I can’t bear to let my beloved characters go, so the series is more of a family saga/adventure. J

In the series, what type of paranormal has been your favorite to write? Wow, that’s a good question. I think Taeg has been my favorite so far because his fae heritage allows him to dissipate into air and charm others into doing his will. Boy, those were fun powers to work with!

You have wonderful covers for each of the four books in the series, including the fourth, Heart of the Incubus, releasing in January. Were the covers your designs or concepts? The covers were based partially on the way I envisioned the characters, blended in with the setting. The truth is that the fabulous cover artist has read the books, so each cover is an honest description of what you can find inside.

Each cover features an urban setting. The blurb for book one mentions New York City. Is this the same setting for all three? Does it represent the real present city, or one of your own design? If different, how does it compare to present day urban settings? With the exception of Heart of the Incubus, the novella set in London and featuring a friend of the brothers, the books are based in modern-day New York City. It’s pretty much what you would find there on any given day, except in my world supernaturals blend in with the human population, hiding their true nature through glamours that make them appear human.

DEMONS OF INFERNUM - Book One by Rosalie Lario

Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.

Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she’s also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon’s Most Wanted List.

And no one wants her more than Keegan’s father.

Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he’ll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics—the far deadlier, uncontrollable half—when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.

Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.
