Witch's Cursed Cabin:
A Coon Hollow Coven Tale
The pale gray of Logan’s double-breasted suit made his eyes gleam like a clear forest pool as he said, "Well, I wanted to check to see how you were doing, and I have a bit of coven business with Shireen."
"Doing fine, but I need a sec," I mumbled above the changing screen while stretching to grab my shirt.
"I didn't realize…" A rosy blush spread across his fair cheeks.
I yanked my jeans over my hips, shoved in the tails of my shirt, and stepped out in my sock feet.
Shireen’s cat appeared from under a clothes rack, ran between Logan's legs, and clung to my ankle, claws locked onto my jeans.
I yelped and shook my leg to get him off.
"What on earth?" Logan shouted and grabbed the cat, who spat and hissed at him while clinging tighter. Logan touched a crystal amulet hanging against his necktie, and his eyes shifted to midnight blue, his gaze lowered onto the cat.
It recoiled to the back of my leg and sunk magic-laced teeth into my calf, even through the denim.

Genre: Paranormal romance
Description:
Eager to be on her own away from home, twenty-year-old Aggie Anders accepts a relative’s invitation to live in Coon Hollow Coven. Although she’s a witch from a different coven, what locals say about the Hollow confuses her. How can witchcraft there live and breathe through souls of the dead?
Aggie’s new residence in this strange southern Indiana world is a deserted homestead cabin. The property’s carriage house serves as the coven’s haunted Halloween fundraiser. It’s a great opportunity for her to make new friends, especially with the coven’s sexy new High Priest Logan.
But living in the homestead also brings Aggie enemies. Outsiders aren’t welcome. A cantankerous, old neighbor tries to frighten her off by warning her that the homestead is cursed. Local witches who practice black magic attempt to use their evil to drive Aggie away and rid their coven of her unusual powers as a sun witch.
Determined to stay and fit in, Aggie discovers not only that the cabin is cursed, but she alone is destined to break the curse before moonrise on Samhain. If she fails, neither the living nor the dead will be safe.

Series description:

The Coon Hollow Coven Tales series is about a coven of witches in a fictitious southern Indiana community, south of Bloomington, the neck of the woods where I spent my favorite childhood years surrounded by the love of a big family. The books are rich with a warm Hoosier down-home feel. There are interesting interactions between coven members and locals from the nearby small town of Bentbone. If magic wasn’t enough of a difference between the two groups, the coven folk adhere to the 1930s lifestyle that existed when the coven formed.

A note to readers: the books in the Coon Hollow Coven Tales series are written to be read in any order. The series is about one community, and its residents may pass in and out of various books, but each book has its own unique and special story to be told.

Coon Hollow Coven Tales include:
Blood Ice & Oak Moon (coming autumn 2016)

How embarrassing to be caught in the changing room. You had me at 'cat', though.

Wow, something has seriously freaked that cat out! Looks like it's Logan. :-)

I've been bitten right through jeans so she has all my sympathy! I'm betting this cat is not reacting out of normal fear though.

An attack cat ends an awkward moment!

Logan should not try to help anymore -- I think he just made things worse.

Wow, dramatic scene indeed and I loved the cat's actions and reactions here. Terrific snippet!

Thanks lots! That cat bite leads to a lot of trouble for Aggie. PT, you're right that Logan doesn't really know what to do.

Yeesh, one might think Logan's not as innocent as he seems. Do you trust the cat or do you trust Logan? Good snippet, Marsha.

I've always wanted an attack cat! Nice snippet, Marsha!

Hmmm...thought Logan was a good guy, but pets are so much more intuitive than people. Good job painting the scene for your readers. :-)

Hmm - normal cat claws, or enchanted cat teeth? Logan seems more trouble than he's worth in this snippet!

Great description of the cat attack-- I could feel those claws and those teeth. They can be very determined creatures, can't they?

More proof that cats are evil! Kidding, to all the cat lovers out there. The scene was great! :D

It seems like this cat knows some thing that we don't.

I bet he thought he'd be helping. LOL Great snippet.

Ouch! I really feel for him. My cat bit me on the leg through my pants once when I stopped him from sneaking out the door and then laughed mockingly at him for it. I don't do that anymore. Great snippet!

Well ouch! Methinks his attempt to help just made things worse. This cat doesn't like magic, yet cats are common familiars. Go figure. Unless the cat is trying to tell her something about him...
