Interviewing author Jordan K. Rose about her new release Perpetual Light

Please join me in welcoming Jordan K. Rose. I had the chance to talk with her about her new book release, Perpetual Light. Don't miss the CONTEST she's offering at the end of this post!

Marsha, thanks so much for having me on the blog today as part of the Perpetual Light Blog Tour. I’m thrilled to be here and looking forward to meeting your readers.

In the description of Perpetual Light, you reveal that your heroine, Lucia, must master her forgotten powers. What are those powers, and why does she need them now?

Lucia has the power to slay vampires with her mind. She doesn’t really have to lift a finger. She just shows the vampire what death looks like and then makes it happen. She’s been running from her destiny as a vampire slayer for so long she’s actually forgotten her powers. Fate has finally caught up with her and brought her face to face with Vittorio, the one vampire she doesn’t want to slay.

Why was Lucia unable to deliver the vampire, Vittorio, from eternal damnation?

Love. Pure and simple love. Being a vampire has cursed his soul. The only way for him to be saved is for her to deliver his soul to The Light, that is, to slay him. She loves him too much to kill him. It’s selfish, and she knows this and struggles with what to do about it.

Describe how Lucia and Vittorio were connected in the past.

In the their first lifetime together in 1600s Italy they grew up on her family’s vineyard, courted and married. They knew each other her entire life. His parents and hers were good friends. Vittorio’s mother was a midwife and helped Filomena deliver Lucia.

Samuel hunts Lucia for her powers. How does he know her so well?

Ah, this is a great question. And it’s not one I can answer completely. They seem to have some sort of a history together, one that she doesn’t remember and he hasn’t revealed. Ooh, so mysterious. J

Why might Lucia need to kill Vittorio in order to battle Samuel?

Lucia’s powers are very, very alluring to vampires. Imagine being able to kill vampires without so much as batting an eye. As a vampire being able to hold this threat over other vampires would give you all the power in the vampire world. Lucia is weak right now. Can she trust Vittorio not to become power-hungry and want her the way Samuel does? If he created her vampire, she’d be enslaved by him instead of Samuel. This is not a risk she can take.

Fate is cruel. Especially when the one you’ve sworn to love for all eternity, the very soul who changed your destiny is the last person you should trust.

After more than three hundred years of running, Lucia Dicomano must make a choice.

Forced to take her place as a Pharo of Redemption, the divine slayer needs to master her forgotten powers. Lucia turns to Vittorio, the one vampire she’s failed to deliver from eternal damnation. But overcoming smoldering remnants of love, lust and anger aren’t their only obstacles.

Samuel, who may know Lucia better than she knows herself, hunts her with a fervor stoked by a thousand years of vengeful hatred. His plan—capture and enslave the weakened Pharo then take control of her elusive power.

Can Lucia trust Vittorio long enough to reclaim her powers? Or will she have no choice but to kill him and battle Samuel alone?
